El evento tiene como fin, brindar información sobre algunas especies de aves marinas y su estado de conservación en el Perú. Es organizado por <st1:PersonName w:st="on" ProductID="la Asociaci?n Peruana"><st1:PersonName w:st="on" ProductID="la Asociaci?n">la Asociación</st1:PersonName> Peruana</st1:PersonName> para <st1:PersonName w:st="on" ProductID="la Conservaci?n">la
Conservación</st1:PersonName> de <st1:PersonName w:st="on" ProductID="la Naturaleza APECO"><st1:PersonName w:st="on" ProductID="la Naturaleza">la Naturaleza</st1:PersonName> APECO</st1:PersonName> y es posible gracias al apoyo del Pacific Seabird Group y de <st1:PersonName w:st="on" ProductID="la Biblioteca Nacional">la Biblioteca Nacional</st1:PersonName> del Perú. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p></FONT></FONT></SPAN></DIV>
<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 10pt; TEXT-ALIGN: justify"><SPAN lang=ES-TRAD style="mso-ansi-language: ES-TRAD"><FONT size=3><FONT face="Times New Roman">El Perú es el único país en el mundo que dependió económicamente de las aves marinas, gracias a la extracción y comercialización del excremento de estas aves, conocido como guano y que es usado como fertilizante. <st1:PersonName w:st="on" ProductID="la Compañía Administradora">La Compañía Administradora</st1:PersonName> del Guano, institución creada el año 1909 para cuidar las aves y extraer el guano, implementó uno de las experiencias de manejo y gestión de recursos naturales reconocida como la más exitosa del mundo.<o:p></o:p></FONT></FONT></SPAN></DIV>
<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 10pt; TEXT-ALIGN: justify"><SPAN lang=ES-TRAD style="mso-ansi-language: ES-TRAD"><FONT size=3><FONT face="Times New Roman">Algunas aves marinas llegan al Perú desde Nueva Zelanda o Australia solo para alimentarse, como es el caso de los albatros, las aves marinas más grandes del planeta y uno de los grupos de aves más amenazadas de extinción. Otras como el pingüino de Humboldt, reproducen en el Perú, pero su número ha disminuido estando también amenazado de extinción.<o:p></o:p></FONT></FONT></SPAN></DIV>
<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 10pt; TEXT-ALIGN: justify"><SPAN lang=ES-TRAD style="mso-ansi-language: ES-TRAD"><FONT size=3><FONT face="Times New Roman">Las oportunidades que ofrecen las aves marinas en el Perú van desde el <SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>Birdwatching, el turismo de observación de aves, hasta la comercialización del guano como abono orgánico.<o:p></o:p></FONT></FONT></SPAN></DIV>
