que 0,4 en los últimos años, que se considera<BR>sostenible;<BR><BR>Grandes variaciones en el clima pasado (200 años) se han detectado en la<BR>costa peruana. Si bien es un recurso persistente, su abundancia ha sido muy<BR>variable. En los años 70 terminó un pulso de alta abundancia que duró cerca<BR>de 100 años;<BR><BR>El Niño afecta a la anchoveta, pero en periodos desfavorables (cálidos), la<BR>afecta mucho más pues tiene menos resiliencia (velocidad de recuperación);<BR><BR>Con un buen manejo, aún en periodos desfavorables, la anchoveta puede<BR>continuar siendo la principal especies<BR><BR>Considerando la alternancia de periodos multidecadales “frios” y “cálidos”,<BR>el presente régimen ambiental favorable para la anchoveta podría extenderse<BR>de 5 a 10 años más, hasta el 2020; por lo que debe mantenerse el riguroso<BR>monitoreo de los cambios ambientales de mediano plazo;<BR><BR>Los modelos ecosistémicos (Ecopath con
Ecosim) utilizados indican que con la<BR>actual tasa de explotación de la anchoveta, las aves podrían alcanzar un<BR>nivel aceptable de 5 millones, en aproximadamente una década, El Niño<BR>mediante. Se indicó también que además de la pesca, la pérdida de habitats<BR>de refugio y reproductivos estaría afectando a estas poblaciones.<BR><BR>En relación al avance hacia un enfoque ecosistémico se recomienda mantener<BR>el buen sistema de observación e investigación del mar; y fortalecer la<BR>habilidad para pronóstico ambiental a escalas de meses y décadas.<BR><BR>Saludos.<BR><BR>Francisco J.
