anoche dio inicio a la primera fase del crucero CIMAR16 en aguas del estrecho
de Magallanes. La nave zarpó desde el muelle de Punta Arenas a las 24:00 horas,
dirigiéndose a la zona de estudio, con el objetivo principal de realizar la
estación de procesos.</span></font><font size=1><span style='font-size:9.0pt'><o:p></o:p></span></font></p>
<p style='margin-right:239.25pt'><font size=1 face=Verdana><span
style='font-size:9.0pt;font-family:Verdana'>Según lo programado, terminando la
primera fase, la nave recalará el 27 de octubre en Punta Arenas, para cambio de
personal de investigación y continuar con la segunda fase, la que concluirá el
12 de noviembre en ese mismo Puerto. A continuación, la nave retornará al
puerto base, planificando su arribo a Valparaíso para el próximo 19 de
noviembre.<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>

experimentada tripulación que apoyará las tareas y maniobras necesarias para
una óptima recopilación de los datos requeridos por el jefe científico. La nave
es liderada por el Capitán Arturo <span class=SpellE>Nakanishi</span>, de
amplia trayectoria en los aspectos técnicos de apoyo a los estudios, como
también en la navegación.<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>

style='font-size:9.0pt;font-family:Verdana'>La nave no es primera vez que
accede a las aguas de la XII Región de Magallanes y Antártica Chilena, toda vez
en el año 1991, recién iniciando sus actividades en Chile, realizó un crucero
extraordinario de monitoreo de Marea Roja, ante la prolongada presencia del
fenómeno en el sector costero y exterior de la XII Región. Se aprovecharon las
nuevas tecnologías del buque, especialmente en la toma de datos <em><i><font
face=Verdana><span style='font-family:Verdana'>in situ</span></font></i></em>,
para determinar con exactitud la extensión e intensidad de la marea roja. En
esa ocasión el fenómeno llevaba más de 7 meses de ocurrencia y el área de
estudio se extendió entre Puerto Edén y Puerto Williams, donde se obtuvieron
muestras de moluscos bivalvos, de agua, fitoplancton y sedimentos del fondo
marino.<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>
