Congreso es organizado por la SCHCM y la UC Sma. Concepción y tiene el
propósito de reunir a la comunidad científica nacional y a los usuarios de la

Los Puntos Biológicos de Referencia, PBR, se usan habitualmente para definir el
estatus de un stock, estimar su captura total permisible (CTP) y evaluar el
efecto de diferentes estrategias de explotación. El estatus del stock se
clasifica por la posición del stock dentro de un marco de referencia basado en
los PBR límites y objetivos. En este marco de referencia el estatus del stock
puede ser clasificado como sobrepescado, en proceso de sobrepesca, pescado en
forma óptima o subexplotado. <o:p></o:p></span></font></p>
<p><font size=1 face=Verdana><span style='font-size:9.0pt;font-family:Verdana'>Las
decisiones de cuotas anuales de captura en Chile son decisiones informadas que
tienen a la vista las propuestas de la Subsecretaría de Pesca, las cuales en su
componente de conservación del recurso se basan en las recomendaciones
biológicas y análisis de escenarios que realiza principalmente el IFOP. Para
esto el IFOP realiza anualmente los proyectos de evaluación de stock y cálculo de
capturas totales permisibles. La nueva ley de transparencia de Chile ha
permitido que los informes de estos proyectos estén ahora disponibles al
público en general.<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>
<p><font size=1 face=Verdana><span style='font-size:9.0pt;font-family:Verdana'>Además,
durante el presente año, la revisión de los PBR ha cobrado gran importancia,
impulsado por los procesos de certificación internacional de pesquerías, que
