Especialidades Técnicas, forma parte de la División de Investigación Pesquera
de IFOP y centra su quehacer en dar apoyo, con unidades especializadas, a la
investigación aplicada central de los otros departamentos, figurando además
de la Sección Edad y Crecimiento, las Secciones de Estadística, Oceanografía
Pesquera y Economía. <o:p></o:p></span></font></p>

style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:Verdana'>La sección Edad y Crecimiento focaliza
su quehacer en la determinación de la edad de las especies hidrobiológicas,
con la finalidad de entregar, principalmente, la base de cálculo de las tasas
de crecimiento y mortalidad, estructura etaria poblacional de los recursos
pesqueros, siendo uno de los input de mayor importancia en los modelos de
evaluación de stock para el cálculo de las cuotas totales permisibles (CTP) y
para el manejo de las pesquerías industrial y artesanal. Actualmente, lleva a
cabo estudios de edad a través de estructuras duras y ha implementado su
Laboratorio bajo la NCh-ISO 9001/17025 con certificación vigente hasta
el año 2013, en los recursos merluza común y jurel </span></font><font
