Three fishermen were injured when their boat collided with a merchant vessel
and sank off the coast of Beypore near Kozhikode on Wednesday afternoon. The
fishermen were rescued by another boat in the vicinity. They were later
transferred to a state coastal police boat, which brought them ashore. The
trio, Rafeeq, Munees and Rafi of Chaliyam, has been admitted to a hospital in
Kozhikode with minor injuries...<br>

Minister Manmohan Singh to rescue 29 Indian fishermen stranded in iran sea
waters without any basic amenities. NFWF General Secretary M.Illango, in a
letter to the Prime Minister pointed out that 29 fishermen hailing from
Kanyakumari district of Tamil Nadu working in Quatar were arrested by the Iran coast
guard as they unknowingly strayed into Iran's territorial waters with their
fishing boat on October 11...<br>

Secretary of NFF in the person of Mr. M. Ilango. ..<br>

A new study has found the Sundarban coast retreating up to 200 metres in a
single year due to rapidly deteriorating health of the world's largest Mangrove
forest in the Sundarbans, the Ganges delta region of India and Bangladesh.
Zoological Society of London (ZSL) researcher Dr Nathalie Pettorelli, senior
author of the paper says: "Our results indicate a rapidly retreating
coastline that cannot be accounted for by the regular dynamics of the
Sundarbans...<br>
