Visakhapatnam Fishing Harbour Workers’ Union (VFHWU) has sought compensation
from the government for the workers rendered jobless due to 47-day fishing ban
which began on Monday at the rate of Rs.150 per day. To press for the demand,
the AITUC-affiliated union will hold a meeting here at the fishing harbour on
April 18...<br>

The primary and secondary hinterland of the proposed port at Nagapattinam would
comprise districts of Perambalur, Villupuram, Salem, Namakkal, Karur,
Thanjavur, Thiruvarur and Erode. The Tamil Nadu government has proposed to
invite bids for developing a green field port in Nagapattinam at a cost of Rs.
380 crore. Mumbai-based i-maritime Consultancy Pvt. Ltd was engaged in the
bidding process for developing the port, a policy note tabled in the State
Assembly said on Monday...<br>

Shipyard. F.T. Agro Food-1 is a 42m deep sea mid-water fishing trawler - the
first of its kind ever made in Bangladesh. This ship is the first from a series

Hundreds of residents protested Thursday against a China-backed petroleum

gathered to protest the Shwe Gas Project in Maday Island off the coast of
Kyaukpyu town in the Bay of Bengal, also complaining that the project had
polluted rivers which fishermen in the area had depended on for their catch...<br>
