However, these drawbacks are soon to be a thing of the past with Jorhat-based

Contractors with the civic body found dumping garbage by Gurupura river. Little
by little, since June, the Gurupura river bank at Bangra Kuloor has become a
sort of dumping ground, with tonnes of mud, tree stumps, tyres, plastics being
strewn by the river. Apart from the violation of the Coastal Regulation Zone
(CRZ) rules, what is surprising is that some of the dumping is by contractors

policy requiring fisheries to land sharks in coastal states with their fins
intact. The policy is a strong tool in the fight to end shark finning, a cruel
practice that occurs when fishermen catch sharks, cut off their fins and throw
the still-living animals back into the water where they die slow and painful
deaths...<br></span>
