thousands of fishermen from all over Tamil Nadu went on an indefinite strike as
ice plants supplying ice blocks used to preserve fish, will remain closed from
15-11-2008 . Fishermen said they could not venture into the sea without the
blocks as fish have to be preserved for use and also sent to other parts of the

quantifying fish catch will finally be implemented in the state of Kerala, in
South-West India, coming into effect from 1 November. It is expected that this
system, which is considered more suitable than a more primitive one by which
bulk sales were only based on rough calculations, will bring to an end
counter-charges of exploitation and losses, reports The Hindu...<br></span>

distribute 65 lakh fish fry for raising. Fish fry are being supplied from
