Valparaíso, frente a la casa del Nobel. Es una almeja pequeña (ver infografía)
hallada a 350 metros de profundidad por expertos de la U. Católica del Norte y
la U. Austral, y la investigadora rusa Elena M. Krylova, del Shirshov Institute
of Oceanology, de Moscú. Es la cuarta especie de almeja descubierta en Chile
que agrega, además, un nuevo género al conocimiento de la biodiversidad.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

muchas veces son como ‘oasis’ de vida en el fondo marino y muchas
de las especies aún no han sido descritas”, dice Sellanes.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

que cultivan en sus branquias. Además de vivir en un ambiente extremo -los
compuestos del fondo marino son tóxicos-, tienen hemoglobina en su sangre,
igual que los humanos, por lo que sus partes blandas se ven rojas.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
