se ha observado que en distintas publicidades, propagandas oficiales y privadas, ornamentaciones, informes meteorológicos o de referencias, dibujan y/o utilizan el mapa anterior sin el Sector Antártico Argentino .</p><p style="font-family: Merriweather, serif; line-height: 1.5;">El 8 de mayo de 1986, en horas de la tarde, una patrulla de la Base General San Martín de la Antártida Argentina, encabezada por su jefe el entonces Teniente Primero Rodolfo BARRIONUEVO, entronizó una imagen de la Virgen del Valle, patrona de Catamarca y de los paracaidistas, en la cumbre del cerro América (renombrado como cerro Virgen del Valle por dicha patrulla), que se encuentra en la isla Millerand próxima a la base, pasando a ser la entronización más austral del mundo.</p><p style="font-family: Merriweather, serif; color: rgb(33, 36, 39); margin: 1px 0px 5px; padding: 0px; font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.5;">Luego de dos intentos fallidos de evacuación aérea y ante lo desesperante de la situación clínica del paciente, el médico de la dotación, Teniente Primero Carlos Agustín BRANDAN le propuso al jefe de base, intentar una operación en las instalaciones de la enfermería, acondicionada como improvisado quirófano.</p><p style="font-family: Merriweather, serif; color: rgb(33, 36, 39); margin: 1px 0px 5px; padding: 0px; font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.5;">El día 13 de mayo de 1986, se inició la operación del paciente, bajo las indicaciones del médico de la base, la falta de personal idóneo para ayudar al profesional fue complementada por la asistencia del personal de la dotación, quienes bajo la supervisión del profesional cumplieron cabalmente su cometido y a pesar de esas condiciones de precariedad, falta de insumos, etc.</p><p style="font-family: Merriweather, serif; color: rgb(33, 36, 39); margin: 1px 0px 5px; padding: 0px; font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.5;">Coordinada la operación, la dotación se empeñó en activar una pista de anevizaje en el glacial Uspallata (distante a 200 metros de la Base, de una altura aproximada de 70 metros), para lo que se debió realizar una estructura flotante con capacidad de desplazar personal y material necesario (motos de nieve, tambores de JP1 para reabastecer la aeronave, elementos de señalización, material de escalamiento, medios para montar un puesto de socorro, de comunicaciones, etc.)</p><p style="font-family: Merriweather, serif; color: rgb(33, 36, 39); margin: 1px 0px 5px; padding: 0px; font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.5;">A las 13:10 horas el avión inicia el despegue, en oportunidad de finalizar el crepúsculo de luz disponible, con el paciente a bordo rumbo a la Base Marambio y a las 19:00 hs. mediante una comunicación radial se toma conocimiento que el vuelo se realizó con absoluta normalidad, arribando a destino la aeronave de evacuación sin novedad, donde se encontraba un avión Hércules C-130 en marcha para transportar al referido suboficial intervenido a Buenos Aires, para ser trasladado al Hospital Militar Central en Buenos Aires.</p><p style="font-family: Merriweather, serif; line-height: 1.5;">En forma continua y en cualquier época del año, ya sea en pleno invierno antártico o en los meses de verano, posaron sus ruedas en la pista helada de la Base Marambio de la Antártida Argentina, aviones propulsados por hélices o turbohélices, como los Beaver DHC-2, Twin Otter DHC-6, Douglas C-47, Fokker F-27 y los poderosos Hércules C-130.</p><p style="font-family: Merriweather, serif; color: rgb(33, 36, 39); margin: 1px 0px 5px; padding: 0px; font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.5;">Un hecho que no había ocurrido hasta entonces en ninguna pista de hielo o suelo congelado de todo el continente antártico, era el aterrizaje de un avión a reacción de transporte comercial, pues no se conocía oficialmente que en pistas de otras bases antárticas hayan operado hasta entonces aeronaves de este tipo, ya sea con esquíes, esquí-ruedas o tren de aterrizaje convencional.</p><p style="font-family: Merriweather, serif; line-height: 1.5;">Durante la invernada del año 1968 se cumplieron distintas tareas en la Base Aérea Teniente Matienzo de la Antártida Argentina, con intensa actividad aérea utilizando el único avión monomotor DHC-2 Beaver que tenían de dotación; el cual antes de accidentarse cumplió una misión aeromédica de urgencia, la atención sanitaria e intento de evacuación de un enfermo de una base antártica británica, en donde las posibilidades de rescate eran casi imposibles por las inclemencias del invierno.</p><p style="font-family: Merriweather, serif; color: rgb(33, 36, 39); margin: 1px 0px 5px; padding: 0px; font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.5;">Luego de toda una odisea, un científico inglés que padecía una colitis ulcerosa y su estado era grave, debido a las intensas hemorragias fue debidamente atendido, entre otras medidas se hizo lo más elemental, una transfusión de sangre y fue rescatado y trasladado a un hospital de Buenos Aires.<br>Debido a que el Teniente Oscar José POSE ORTIZ de ROZAS y el Suboficial Ayudante José Benito DIAZ tenían el mismo grupo sanguíneo del enfermo, el científico Kenneth James PORWINE, permitió que el Primer Teniente médico Dr. Eliseo ITURRIETA GUARDIOLA efectuara las primeras transfusiones de sangre directas (brazo a brazo) allí en la Antártida el 29 de julio de 1968 y como resultado se logró detener las hemorragias y mantener con vida al científico inglés.</p><p style="font-family: Merriweather, serif;
