The National Fishworkers' Forum (NFF), a federation of State-level trade
unions in India, has called for a National Day of Protest on 17 September
2012 to focus attention on the State terror that has been unleashed on
protestors who have been peacefully campaigning against the Kudankulam
Nuclear Power Plant, proposed to be built at Kudankulam, Tamil Nadu.

The accident occurred when the boat Arackal 2, owned by James of
Ambalappuzha, was preparing to go for fishing. The seven fishermen, who

has been fully gutted...

Karnataka: Truckers threaten to stop Kerala trucks carrying fish*

The Lorry Owners and Transport Owners Association at Kundapur has
threatened that if lorries from Karnataka are not allowed to carry fish,
the lorries from Kerala carrying fish will not be allowed to enter the

border by temporarily closing down the fishing bunders in Karnataka, Goa
and Maharashtra...

Attari (Amritsar): Forty-eight Indian fishermen, who were freed by Pakistan
as a goodwill gesture, on Tuesday crossed over to this side of the border
through the land transit route of Wagah border here. The Indian nationals,

prison of the southern port city of Karachi on Monday...
