Madhya Pradesh fishermen's welfare board has invited suggestions from
fishermen regarding their welfare and patta allotment policy. Suggestions
can be sent to the board's office on the premises of Fish Aquarium in Raj
Bhavan by post. The fishermen's welfare board has come into existence
following announcement made by chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to this
effect at Fishermen's Panchayat at Bhopal in February 2012...

The fisheries department has started distributing biometric identification
smart cards to members of the fishing community in Goa that have been
issued by the Union ministry of agriculture, department of animal
husbandry, dairying and fisheries. This is the first time that such
biometric identification smart cards, officially called 'marine fishermen
identification cards' (MFIC), are being issued to members of the fishing
community as part of the central government scheme...

Finally, the Government has decided to establish a new fishing harbour near
new Mangalore Port, which was pending for the last 10 years. Responding to
a Deccan Herald poser, Union Minister of Shipping G K Vasan said the Union
Government will provide 75 per cent assistance through Department of Animal
Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries, while the remaining project cost will be
funded primarily by New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) and partially by the
State government, if feasible...

The Kerala government has demanded allotment of more kerosene to the state
as it is facing acute shortage, especially in the fisheries sector which is
the backbone of the coastal economy. A memorandum in this regard was
submitted to the Prime Minister on Tuesday by fisheries minister K Babu.
Kerala’s fisheries sector needs at least 150,000 litre kerosene annually,
but the actual allotment is below 40 per cent...

the harbour preventive office, situated at the Karachi Fish Harbour, to
obtain the necessary port clearance.Would senior officials of the
authorities concerned care to tell the public at large as to what should
the fishermen do to carry on their business without being subjected to the
undeterred, undesirable, horrendous and broad daylight extortion of
millions of rupees a day by the customs preventive department?...
