Sultanpur Lodhi: The historic Kali Bein, which had become an example of
rejuvenation of a dead rivulet, is again stinking- this time with lakhs of
dead fish in it as the flow of fresh water has been reduced and dirty water
continues to flow into it. Around a dozen trolley loads of dead fish had
been removed from Bein by volunteers led by environmentalist Baba Balbir
Singh Seechewal in the last four days and still lakhs of fish are lying
dead in the water...

After a gap of around two years, local fisherwomen from Canacona's main
fish market took out a protest morcha on Friday and sold fish in front of
the Canacona municipal council (CMC) office. Speaking to TOI, SushilaPagui,
Baby Pagui and others who were agitating said that basic facilities like
water, electricity, toilets and cleanliness around the market were lacking.
"Besides, fish is sold along the highway by outsiders, especially women
from Karnataka," they said...

declared 14 point benefit scheme for the fishermen community to protect
their livelihood in wake of government’s ban motorised fishing in the sea

seven months in a year which incurs substantial loss to the fisherworker
community as for most of them fishing is the primary source of income;
though, in some cases paddy and other forest produces supplant their
