A foreign Fishing Vessel Long Wang Hsin was confiscated on 12th Jan 2014,
following which an FIR was lodged by PS CCS and 45 tons of fish was seized.
Soon after the confiscation of the vessel, a firm named M/s Balaji Food
Ltd. filed an application before the Chief Judicial Magistrate at Port
Blair for release of 33.80 tons of fish out of the estimated 45 tons...

*Assam: Bid to develop State fishery sector*

The initiatives undertaken by the Assam Government under the World
Bank-financed Assam Agricultural Competitiveness Project (AACP), are
expected to benefit the fish farmers of the State in the way of exposure to

Fisheries is planning to send three hundred fish farmers for exposure
visits to the leading fish producing states like Andhra Pradesh and West
Bengal...

fishermen that have not been delivered so far...

Pakistani agency personnel abducted 10 boats with 53 fishermen...

To empower women under the National Rural Livelihood Mission, there is a
need to link women's self help groups (WSHGs) to banks, Union Minister for

government, said the objective of the mission shall not be limited to
forming SHGs under the mission but it is necessary to link these groups to
banks to enable the poor women to get easy loans and start their

Support Program (BFWSP) for providing financial assistance and other

gathering of fishermen on the occasion of distribution ceremony of Rs 11
million worth equipments among them at Golarchi in Badin District...
